Heroes Out West Party Time

Waitakere lesbians and their friends and family will once again celebrate all things lesbian at the 2010 Heroes out West event at Falls Park, Henderson on Saturday, March 6.

This will be the third HOW event and features a variety of entertainment including Betty Sio, Edwina Thorne, Jan Eggleton and Hilz… (Red Beryl)

HOW is supported financially and philosophically by the Waitakere City Council and has made it to the walkway of fame…..

“When we began HOW in 2008 we wanted west Auckland to be represented in the Hero festival and to give local lesbians something to support and be proud of,” says principal organiser Cissy Rock.

“Now we’re building on that vision to make it all about being visible, having fun, enjoying each other’s company and listening to great music in a beautiful setting.

“It’s also about honouring our herstory and creating new stories.”

Also on stage will be Vicky Yiannoutsos (aka Nanna Mouscouri), the Coconut Roughs, the Cheesybeats and rock band Razor.

While many will bring a picnic to the event, food and wine will be available to buy at the park.  The event runs from 4pm– 10.00pm.  Tickets are available at the Women’s Book Shop on Ponsonby Rd and Retro Café on Great North Rd, Henderson for $15.  Door sales are $20.
